Rapper and actor, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz The Bhad Guy, and Comedian Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, have joined the car procession at the #protest at Lekki tollgate in Lagos.

This is despite a ban on protests in Lagos and the heavy presence of armed police personnel at the tollgate.

The celebrities and other activities who turned up at the tollgate with their cars were seen waving Nigerian flags from inside the vehicles and honking the horns while singing solidarity songs.

Some of the activists who spoke to newsmen stated that they will continue going to and fro the tollgate as their own way of protesting against the alleged killing of protesters at the tollgate on October 20, 2020.

The police in Lagos state have reportedly arrested two persons at the Lekki tollgate as Nigerians plan to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the October 20 EndSARS protest that turned bloody.

According to BBC, one of those arrested claimed he was a journalist while the other person stormed the tollgate with a placard with the intention to stage a protest. The two person.

The state police command released a statement on Tuesday warning residents of the state against staging any street protest. According to the statement, only indoor and virtual events will be allowed.

It is one year since the historic #ENDSARS protest, a youth-driven anti-police brutality demonstration, shook Nigeria.

The protest, which morphed from social media campaigns into street demonstrations in October 2020, was triggered by the excesses of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a now-disbanded police tactical unit notorious for cruelty against crime suspects.

Protesters also demanded that an independent body be set up to investigate allegations of police misconduct and to prosecute those indicted. They also called for the psychological evaluation of officers of the disbanded SARS before they are redeployed into other units.
