TOPIC: Enoch Walked With God

TEXT: Genesis 5:18-31(NKJV)

STUDY: Here, notice the name, age at which they had their first sons, total lifespan and brief remarks about four characters. The lifespans in years are Jared (962), Enoch (365), Methuselah (969) and Lamech (777). The others had their first sons at 162 years or more, but Enoch had his as a “young man” of 65 years!

Further, while others died at between 777 and 969 years of age, Enoch was “taken by God” at a “youthful” age of 365. But what makes Enoch outstanding is the fact that he “walked with God” for 300 years, and “God took him” (vs. 22, 24; Heb. 11:5-6).

What does it mean to walk with God? What did Enoch do that distinguished him from his generation? Jude 14-15 shows that he was a preacher of righteousness who warned his contemporaries against ungodliness. Though we live in an ungodly generation, we too can walk with God today!

The first step is to commit oneself to the Lord Jesus Christ and receive the power to be God’s child (John 1:12);then continue daily in fellowship with God and His people, rejecting every work of darkness (Acts 2:46-47; Eph. 5:11-14). Like Enoch, we should also earnestly expect the coming of the Lord (Jude 14).

PRAYER: Lord, please help me to walk with you all the days of my life.

DAILY QUOTE: But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” (Luke 18:27)
